Madison Marye’s beautiful Shawsville cattle farm is once again home to the popular 18-hole, par-three tournament, where we fashion the holes 3 feet wide to give everyone a shot at a hole-in-one!

A delicious BBQ dinner will follow at The Meadowbrook Center.

Now in its 8th year, the tournament benefits Mountain Valley Charitable Foundation, which provides opportunity and empowers community for eastern Montgomery County to be the best it can be.

Shawsville Rescue Squad donates AED to Waldron Y

The Shawsville Rescue Squad has donated an automated external defibrillator (AED) to the Waldron Family YMCA.

Shawsville Rescue Squad Capt. John Akers presented the AED to the Y earlier this month. An AED is a portable electronic device that automatically diagnoses a potentially life threatening cardiac arrhythmia in a patient and treats it through the application of electrical therapy to reestablish an effective rhythm.

“We appreciate the Shawsville Rescue Squad donating this much-needed equipment,” said Waldron Family Y wellness director Staci Boone. “It’s reassuring to know we have this life-saving device here in case — God forbid — we ever need to use it.”

Located in The Meadowbrook Center in Shawsville, the Waldron Family Y is the only workout facility between Christiansburg and Salem. The Shawsville Rescue Squad is an all-volunteer organization. For more information, please visit http://shawsvillerescue.org/.
