The Waldron Y Pottery Studio is now open and accepting registrations for its next 6-week class starting July 18.

Beginning Pottery

This is for those who have never taken a pottery class or need a refresher class. The basics of wheel-thrown pottery will be taught: wedging, centering, pulling, trimming, glazing, and basic studio etiquette. This class is 6 weeks long and meets once a week for 2½ hours. The cost includes basic pottery tools for use during class and 25 lbs. of clay. Additional clay can be purchased for $20 per 25lbs. bag of clay.

Sunday Session, 2-4:30PM — July 18-August 22

Waldron Y Member Price $112. Non-member Price $125.

The Wheel Experience

This three-hour workshop is for those who have never used a potter’s wheel and would like to “give it a spin.” It is a fun experience for individuals or groups who are looking for something fun and unique to do for a few hours. The workshop is designed so individuals who are interested in wheel thrown pottery can get some experience without committing to a multi-week pottery class. We provide everything you need to make something on the potter’s wheel: tools, clay and instruction. All you need to do is wear clothes and shoes that you can get dirty.

Workshop III — Sunday, July 11, 1-4PM

Waldron Y Member Price $30. Non-member Price $35.

Waldron Family Y Healthy (Mostly!) Cookbook

The Waldron Family Y is collecting recipes from people in our community for a healthy-ish cookbook. Our goal is to collect 250 recipes ranging from appetizers to main courses to desserts, with a special chapter devoted to tomato recipes in honor of our EastMont Tomato Festival — this year on August 14.

Each selected recipe will show the name of the contributor along with a personalized line about the dish. When the cookbook is published and ready for sale, we will host a dinner where recipe contributors can bring their dishes for the community to sample.

We invite you to submit 3 or 4 of your favorite recipes as soon as possible. Please complete the recipe form and return it to the Waldron Y front desk. Or you may email it to Waldron Y member Lauren Tate, who has graciously volunteered to coordinate the cookbook, at bltate@i-plus.net.
